Sabrina Carpenter has called Irish men “hard work” following her split from Barry Keoghan.
The 25-year-old pop star took a dig at her actor ex-boyfriend during her performance in his hometown of Dublin, Ireland, on Monday night.
Speaking to the crowd at Dublin’s 3Arena, Sabrina joked that Irish boys are “hard work” before launching into her 2024 hit Please, Please, Please, which is widely believed to have been written about Barry.
“Dublin, it’s so lovely to be here. You all look and sound amazing,” the Espresso hitmaker told the audience before adding, “But my goodness, these Irish boys are hard work.”
Barry, 32, also stars as Sabrina’s love interest in the music video for Please, Please, Please. In the song, the hitmaker begs him not to let her down.
It was reported that the pair had split in December 2024 after about a year together, with a source telling People that Sabrina and the Saltburn star had decided to “take a break” to focus on their individual careers.
It was also rumoured that Barry’s partying habits had caused the couple to drift apart.
Barry was also accused of cheating on the Taste hitmaker with 21-year-old influencer Breckie Hill, although Breckie denied the rumours.
The Banshees of Inisherin actor later took to social media to hit back at the “disgusting rumours”, writing, “I can only sit and take so much.”
“My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond too,” he continued. “I have to respond now because it’s gettin to a place where there are too many lines being crossed (sic).”
