Days after Dolly Parton postponed Las Vegas concerts due to “health challenges”, reports have surfaced that the singer will also miss the 2025 Governor’s Awards.
The legendary singer and actor is this year’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award honoree, but will not attend the 16 November ceremony in Hollywood, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
A rep for Parton confirmed the news to USA Today, but denied that her absence was related to her health issues.
“We told Governors Awards/Academy in June she could not attend due to a scheduling conflict when they first approached us,” Parton’s publicist wrote in a statement.
Parton will instead deliver her acceptance speech remotely from Nashville, the note revealed.
She is being celebrated at the Governors Awards alongside this year’s three recipients of honorary Oscars: Tom Cruise, Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas.
On 28 September, the Jolene singer revealed in a post shared to her social media accounts that she would “unfortunately need to postpone” an upcoming slate of concerts in Las Vegas.
“As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures,” she wrote.
It has been a difficult year for the fan favourite, whose husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, died in March.
