Young Thug announced on Monday (Oct. 6) that he’ll be performing a “Hometown Hero” benefit concert at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on Dec. 16.
The benefit concert announcement on State Farm Arena’s Instagram account is billed as “Young Thug & Friends.” Tickets are set to go on sale Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. EST on Ticketmaster’s website.
The announcement arrives shortly after Thugger dropped his fourth studio album UY Scuti, which he released on Sept. 26 via Young Stoner Life Records/300 Entertainment. UY Scuti earned the rapper his ninth top 10 album on the Billboard 200, with the set debuting at No. 6 with 52,000 equivalent album units earned. UY Scuti also debuted at No. 5 on Top Streaming Albums and No. 6 on Top Album Sales.
The 21-track LP included previous singles “Money on Money” (featuring Future), which reached No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 10 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and “Miss My Dogs” as well as more collaborations with Mariah the Scientist, Cardi B, Sexyy Red, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Travis Scott and more.
Last Sunday (Sept. 28) Thugger delivered a free concert in front of Atlanta’s Fulton County Courthouse — where he was recently on trial in the YSL RICO case — as well as a passionate plea to stop the violence in his hometown. “This place shaped me — changed my life … Shout-out to the whole police academy for letting me perform here,” he said during the show, where he performed a few UY Scuti cuts and older hits like “Digits.”
“This is not the place to be on the bad side, life is much more than this. That’s why I wanted to do it here,” he said during his performance. “This isn’t a flex… This place changed my life forever.”
