Wet Leg don’t want to be performing in another 40 years.

The indie rockers will play their biggest headline shows to date in July 2026 with gigs in Manchester, Leeds and London, but singer Rhian Teasdale has hinted they won’t be performing live in a few decades time.

She told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “All good things must come to an end, right?

“To be honest, when I see bands from the 70s and 80s still touring, it seems absurd to me.

“I want to be sitting at home watching Glastonbury on TV, with a nice cup of tea. Watching the next generation.”

Rhian joked that the Catch These Fists hitmakers have a contingency plan if their star continues to rise.

She added: “If everything goes well, we’ll end up like ABBA. We’ll become holograms and people will be able to come see us play for 200 years.”

Despite not wanting to emulate the likes of The Who or The Rolling Stones, Rhian admitted she still gets a real thrill from being in a group.

She said: “Playing in a band is the most wonderful feeling in the world.

“I owe a lot to [bandmate Hester Chambers]. She was incredibly patient with me. She’s the one who taught me to play guitar.

“She told me I was super talented when, clearly, I wasn’t at all!”

Earlier year, Rhian admitted the group – completed by Hester, Henry Holmes, Josh Mobaraki and Ellis Durand – were overwhelmed by the attention brought onto them by hit single Chaise Longue.

Their 2021 song went viral, achieving millions of streams and views and ultimately earning the group the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Performance in 2023.

She told KROQ-FM radio: “It was pretty overwhelming. We were so new to it all and so naïve that you would kind of just take one step, and then take another step … Yeah, it was mad.”
