Marcus Mumford has revealed Taylor Swift was a “phenomenal house guest” when she used his recording studio.
During an interview for the Table Manners podcast on Wednesday, the Mumford & Sons frontman recalled how he received a call from producer Aaron Dessner in 2020 asking if he had a “discreet” space for a high-profile artist to use.
“I was like, ‘Cool. Well, if it’s one of your homies, then I’m sure it’ll be fine. Like, what if it’s Beyoncé or something?'” he smiled. “And it was Taylor f**king Swift.”
Marcus went on to recount how Taylor completed work on her ninth studio album, Evermore, at his Scarlet Pimpernel Studios in London.
A surprise release, the superstar unveiled the project in December 2020.
“And she came down right at the end of Covid, and was the most phenomenal house guest, burned a lot of vegetables for her, and she brought a killer candle, actually,” the 37-year-old continued, while co-host Jessie Ware joked, “I bet she b**ody did.”
Admitting he loves it when guests bring candles, Marcus noted that Taylor’s “candle game was excellent”.
“(Taylor) was really sweet. She finished the second half of Evermore in our studio. And then she asked me to sing along, and I said, ‘Yes,'” he remembered, referencing the backing harmony vocals he provided on the track Cowboy Like Me.
Marcus and Taylor performed Cowboy Like Me together live for the first time at one of her The Eras Tour concerts held in Las Vegas in March 2023.
The singer-songwriter is currently promoting Mumford & Sons’ new album, Prizefighter. The project is set to be released on 13 February 2026.
