50 Cent’s Diddy documentary unveils title, sets Netflix release date

50 Cent‘s long-teased documentary series on Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has finally been issued a release date at Netflix – find out more below.

Back in December 2023, it was reported that Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson was working on a documentary based on the sexual assault and abuse allegations surrounding Diddy at the time. In March 2024, he confirmed work on the project, teasing that it would be releasing “soon”.

At the time, the documentary was titled Diddy Do It?. In May last year, Netflix won a bidding war for the documentary, and have now finally announced that it will be streaming worldwide very soon.

The documentary series – which now includes the latest developments in the shocking case, including Diddy being sentenced to four years and two months in prison following his conviction on federal prostitution-related charges – is now titled Sean Combs: The Reckoning, and is due to hit the streaming platform on December 2.

“You can’t continue to keep hurting people, and nothing ever happens,” an unidentified person says in the dramatic teaser for Sean Combs: The Reckoning above.

Per a statement via Netflix, director Alexandria Stapleton documentary says the four-episode run “isn’t just about the story of Sean Combs or the story of Cassie, or the story of any of the victims, or the allegations against him, or the trial. Ultimately, this story is a mirror [reflecting us] as the public, and what we are saying when we put our celebrities on such a high pedestal. I hope [this documentary] is a wake-up call for how we idolize people, and to understand that everybody is a human being.”

50 Cent added: “I’m grateful to everyone who came forward and trusted us with their stories, and proud to have Alexandria Stapleton as the director on the project to bring this important story to the screen.”

The documentary series is set to feature never-before-seen footage and interviews with some of Combs’ former associates, childhood friends, artists and employees.

Earlier in the summer, 12 New Yorkers acquitted Diddy of sex trafficking and racketeering charges, which carried a potential life sentence. They did, however, find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution involving his two ex-girlfriends, Cassandra Ventura and “Jane”.

On October 3, Judge Arun Subramanian told Combs that the abuse of those women warranted 50 months in prison and a $500,000 fine. Combs has since filed a two-page notice of appeal, challenging both the conviction and the four-year prison sentence.
