The Cure have announced the physical editions of their new concert film, The Show Of A Lost World. Find all the details below.
The intimate gig took place at London’s Troxy on November 1 2024, and was live-streamed for free on YouTube to more than a million people.
It saw Robert Smith and co. play ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ – their Number One first album in 16 years – in full, followed by a set of classic songs, various tracks from 1980’s ‘Seventeen Seconds’, and a high-octane encore.
The ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ segment later arrived as a live album, ‘Songs Of A Live World Troxy London MMXXIV’, with all of the band’s royalties being donated to War Child.
The Cure recently confirmed that the Troxy show would be screened in cinemas worldwide from December 11, and have since shared an official trailer for the film. Find tickets to the screenings here.
Now, the group have announced that fans will be able to own The Show Of A Lost World on both DVD and Blu-ray to watch at home. These physical editions are set for release on December 13 – pre-order your copy here.
A digital version of the film is also in the works, with details to follow. The concert movie will not be released as a 4K disc, the announcement confirmed. Check out the preview post below.
“The Cure: The Show Of A Lost World is a recut, remixed and remastered film of that night’s full 31-song show,” a description reads. “Directed by Grammy-nominated Nick Wickham, with new surround sound mix by Robert Smith. Blu-ray includes additional Dolby Atmos mix.”
The star-studded crowd at the Troxy included Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong, Radiohead‘s Ed O’Brien, Boy George, actor Pedro Pascal, The Charlatans‘ Tim Burgess and many others.
The Cure haven’t performed live together since the Troxy gig, but have announced their live return for 2026 with a series of UK and European dates. These include outdoor headline shows in Manchester, Cardiff, Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh and Berlin. Find any remaining tickets here.
They’ll also top the bill at numerous summer festivals, including Isle Of Wight Festival, Primavera Sound Barcelona, Rock Werchter, Open’er, Øya and Rock En Seine.
‘Songs Of A Lost World’ earned a glowing five-star review from NME, and was recently nominated for a Grammy in the Best Alternative Music Album category.
Frontman Smith previously revealed that The Cure had another new LP that’s “virtually finished” – with a third record on the way too. He has also explained that he wanted to complete one of these projects before the band hit the road again.
“Seriously, I have to finish the second album,” he said in late 2024. “I decided that we weren’t going to play anything next summer [2025]. The next time we go out on stage will be autumn next year.”
Smith has hinted at how one of the new albums could sound: “Lyrically, it’s a very long way from being an upbeat album. It has one song of grief on it which didn’t make it onto this album [‘Songs Of A Lost World’], which is a very, very old song which we’ve been playing for a long, long time called ‘It Can Never Be the Same’. And I think that this next album will have that song on because I think it’s about time. It used to be called ‘Christmas Without You’.”
There are currently rumours around whether The Cure will play a special show at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall as part of the Teenage Cancer Trust gig series. Smith took over as curator for the 2026 edition, after The Who’s Roger Daltrey stepped down from the role.
Last October, Smith said he could imagine The Cure continuing up until they reach their 50th anniversary as a band.
