Vice President JD Vance Takes a Side in Nicki Minaj vs. Cardi B Beef

Vice President JD Vance Takes a Side in Nicki Minaj vs. Cardi B Beef

The vice president of the United States is taking a stand in one of modern rap’s biggest ongoing beefs, with JD Vance declaring Wednesday (Dec. 10) that he supports Nicki Minaj over Cardi B.

In a post on X, the politician made his feelings on the rivalry clear by simply writing, “Nicki > Cardi.”

Vance’s message comes in response to one of the Queen of Rap’s posts, which has since been deleted. Fan screenshots, however, show that Minaj had shared a photo of Chucky from the Child’s Play franchise and written “Vance > Rants,” which aligns with other posts that are still up on her account at press time.

“Vance > Ants in the pants,” she wrote Thursday alongside a photo of 50 Cent smiling.

“The Vance > The Gav Nots,” the hip-hop titan posted shortly afterward, followed by: “Nothing brings me joy like the Vance memes & knowing he leaned into it like a boss … But make no mistake, Vance is an assassin. Don’t debate him. On anything. Quick as a computer. Maybe quicker.”

Billboard has reached out to Cardi’s rep for comment.

The two women rappers have long been foes, with their feud dating back to 2017 after their collaboration on Migos’ “MotorSport” came out. Minaj took offense to Cardi’s comments about the track in an interview with Capital XTRA, which boiled over into a brawl at a New York Fashion Week party in 2018. After appearing to make amends, the pair exchanged multiple shady moments over the years that culminated in an all-out social media war on X earlier this year.

But while Cardi has made her opposition to the Donald Trump administration clear, Minaj has become increasingly cozy with the MAGA party. In November, she posted a message on X about her “deep sense of gratitude” for the twice-impeached POTUS’ attention to the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria, shortly after which she spoke on the matter at a United Nations event in New York.

“I would like to thank President Trump for prioritizing this issue,” Minaj said from the podium. “And his leadership on the global stage in calling for urgent action to defend Christians in Nigeria and to combat extremism and to bring a stop to violence against those who simply want to express their natural right to freedom of religion or belief.”
