Taylor Momsen sang a duet of ‘Where Are You, Christmas?’ with her younger self on Jimmy Kimmel Live – watch the moment below.

Momsen and her band, The Pretty Reckless, gave a powerful rendition of the track when they appeared on the show last night (December 12).

The original song is a piano ballad, which was co-written by Mariah Carey for How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Ron Howard’s 2000 live-action adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic.

Momsen played Cindy Lou Who, who sang the song in the film.

For their performance yesterday, the band kicked off with some archival audio of a young Momsen singing the opening lines of the song over a soft piano track. Then, Momsen took over to finish the track live. Watch it below.

In October, the Pretty Reckless released a Christmas EP, ‘Taylor Momsen‘s Pretty Reckless Christmas’, which includes their rendition of ‘Where Are You, Christmas?’ as well as other original songs written by Momsen and guitarist Ben Phillips.

Back in November, Momsen reunited with her co-star Jim Carrey for the first time since 2000 at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, where Carrey was inducting Seattle grunge icons Soundgarden.

Ahead of the band’s induction – for which Carrey delivered a hilarious speech – Carrey, Momsen, Soundgarden and other musicians gathered around a round of pictures. Carrey and Momsen took a couple of pictures together, marking the first time they’ve seen each other since How The Grinch Stole Christmas premiered in 2000.

Speaking briefly to press on the red carpet, Carrey “we haven’t seen each other since The Grinch,” while Momsen added: “Yeah, it’s been 25 years! This is insane.”

She also reflected to People magazine about working on the film with Jim Carrey, telling the publication: “I just love that he was very protective of me. He was always very kind. And just the entire experience of filming ‘Grinch’ and getting to know him so well, even in all the makeup, was just wonderful.”

Momsen continued: “As a young person watching an artist at work and taking their craft so seriously, that left a really powerful, lasting impact on me as an adult now. And I’m excited to be able to tell him that as a grownup.”
