Kylie Minogue suffered ‘really bad migraines’ making Christmas album

Kylie Minogue was left in tears as she suffered “really bad migraines” while making her Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped) album.

The 57-year-old pop star returned to the studio to revamp her 2015 festive record Kylie Christmas and add four new tunes to the track list including new single XMAS but Kylie battled terrible headaches during the sessions.

She told NME.com: “When I listen to the songs now, it feels really good. It felt like Christmas, even if I was in the studio in tears sometimes because I was having really bad migraines!”

Kylie went on to admit she would love to see her new track XMAS top the UK singles chart over the holidays to land her a Christmas number one.

She said: “It would be amazing, but I honestly did not think about that when we first went into this promo. I’ve been so focused on everything else, wrapping everything up and all the other mechanics, but now that we’re here …

” It would be nice. But also I’m cool with it regardless because it’s a very coveted spot and crazy things happen around Christmas, so I don’t think it is that predictable.”

Kylie went on to reveal she’s going to be having a “micro break” over the Christmas holidays and is hoping to return to the studio to work on more music in the new year.

She added: “I’ve been thinking about it [making new music] just quietly, in the background. With these guys [who I am working with now], we always talk about: ‘Oh, remember this one we started and we really didn’t get to finish it’.

“That discussion is always in the background, and I will have a micro break over Christmas and come back to it. Making music is my hobby and it’s a happy place for me, so I will.”

It comes after Kylie admitted XMAS – which is inspired by the Village People’s 1978 party classic YMCA – has been 10 years in the making because she first thought up the idea for the song in summer 2015.

She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “The song comes from 2015. I was at Soho House in Berlin, it was summer on the terrace and we’d just done the first Christmas album.

“We’d had a couple of glasses of wine – it wasn’t Kylie Wines back then – and it came to us like YMCA but XMAS. I’ve been sitting on the chorus for 10 years.”

In the video for the single, Kylie performs the famous flying dance move from Dirty Dancing and despite her decades of stage experience, the Can’t Get You Out Of My Head hitmaker was “a bit scared” about pulling it off.

She said: “I was a bit scared as I’ve never done it before. It was a fantasy moment. I was told not to overthink it.

“We did a couple of practices before we did the main one. The thing is, you just need to trust the other person.

“The first one I got up, but I overshot it. The second was fine. The third one was good. The bruises were worth it the next day.”
