“These are the people’s songs”: How Ed Sheeran inspired the Boyzone reunion

Having spent seven years hosting the Magic Radio Breakfast Show with Harriet Scott, Ronan Keating returned to the studio this week, but on the other side as he was with Boyzone bandmates Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch to chat about their new tour.

Speaking to hosts Harriet Scott and Harry Judd, the trio also discussed the Boyzone documentary, No Matter What, that aired on Sky earlier this year. Ronan revealed that Ed Sheeran had contacted him after watching the documentary and asked if Ronan would be getting the band back together telling him that ‘These are the people’s songs, you’ve got to give these songs back to people again.

And for Ronan that was the prompt to get Boyzone back on stage: ‘It was such a strong comment for him to make to me, that it was part of the catalyst to push for the stadium shows…’
