Ronan Keating is looking forward to 2026 with “optimism”.

The 48-year-old pop star is performing a New Year’s Eve concert, which will be aired on TV in the UK, and Ronan hopes that the event will help those people who are currently finding things difficult.

He told BBC News: “It can be a very lonely time for a lot of people. A very hard time. Especially when you reflect on a tough year.

“So you want to look at, maybe, optimism into 2026.

“I hope that I can bring some sort of joy to people, so they feel like they’re not at home alone tonight, that I’m right there with them.”

Despite this, Ronan has no intention of making New Year’s resolution.

He said: “If I’ve got to make changes, I make them now. I won’t wait till a certain date, because I’ll only fail.

“Really for me it’s about spending more time with loved ones; family and friends.”

Boyzone are set to reunite in 2026, for two shows at the Emirates stadium in London in June, and Ronan can’t wait to perform alongside his bandmates again.

He shared: “It’s unbelievable.

“Boyzone never headlined a stadium before.

“The guest list is ridiculous. The phone hasn’t stopped ringing. And yes, I have received more Christmas cards this year than I normally do.”

Meanwhile, Ronan previously described himself as a “total dreamer” during his younger years.

The chart-topping pop star also explained that he’s always had a strong work ethic.

He told Big Issue: “I was a total dreamer, but I worked hard. I was a grafter.

“I was into athletics so I always believed you had to train the hardest to win. So I trained twice a day as a kid, I was always working on a path. I didn’t sit in front of a TV screen or anything like that. I was a very active kid.

“I think if you met the younger me you’d think he was a lovely fella, really. I hope so. I was always mannerly. My mum brought me up to have manners and treat people with respect. So I hope that I was always that way.”
