Multiple petitions to deport Nicki Minaj have been launched after her apparent move to conservative politics.

Last month, the rapper was a surprise guest at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix, appearing in conversation with the organisation’s co-founder Erika Kirk, widow of the murdered political commentator Charlie Kirk.
During that appearance, Minaj expressed her “respect and admiration” for the “handsome, dashing” Donald Trump, and doubled down on her recent criticisms of California governor Gavin Newsom.
Kirk had asked Minaj about the backlash she’s faced for her recent comments, which the rapper said she hadn’t noticed. “I don’t think about them,” she said. “We’re the cool kids. The other people, they’re the ones who are disgruntled, but really they’re just disgruntled with themselves.”
However, she later deactivated her Instagram account amid the considerable backlash, which has now seen multiple petitions launched to deport her. Per Rolling Stone, several Change.org petitions to deport Minaj to her native Trinidad and Tobago have garnered more than 120,000 signatures combined.

At least three petitions were created between Dec 21 and 28, which coincides with her controversial appearance at AmericaFest. However, one of the most popular petitions – currently sitting on over 83,000 signatures – predates the Turning Point backlash and was created last summer.
Fans have been expressing their disappointment with Minaj by booing her music in club settings – with Newsweek reporting that her move away from a more liberal stance has resulted in multiple videos going viral showing people ceasing to dance when her music comes on and people remixing her songs to remove her verses.
Back in December, Minaj and Newsom traded comments on social media after the governor said “no one has been a stronger advocate for the LGBT community” than him.
Minaj hit back: “Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that. Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids. Not Gav. The Gav Nots. GavOUT. Send in the next guy, I’m bored.”
Newsom’s post followed Vice President JD Vance seemingly taking a side in the recently reignited Nicki Minaj and Cardi B feud.
