Spotify Picks MAY-A For RADAR Push

MAY-A is on Spotify‘s RADAR.

The Australian singer and songwriter (real name: Maya Cumming) is the latest artist tapped for RADAR, the global emerging artist program that unite Spotify’s various domestic and international programs under a single name.

“Being part of Spotify’s RADAR program means a lot to me,” she comments. “With so much incredible music out there, having this level of support feels really special. I’m grateful to Spotify for backing the journey and helping the music reach new listeners.”

RADAR artists typically benefit from a push on the RADAR playlist, plus promotional activity, support for upcoming releases, on-platform marketing, bespoke content and social pushes.

MAY-A’s RADAR treatment is announced as she drops a new single, “Catching Up 2 U.” It’s the followup to “Claws” and serves as part two in a trilogy that will be completed with the Feb. 20 release of her debut album, Goodbye (If You Call That Gone), through Sony Music.

“This song is about spite, vengeance and karmic return,” MAY-A explains. “I felt like it was a pretty solid opener for the album due to the tempo and it sets the tone of the tracks thematically, really chucking you into the center of the story.”

The release caps a busy run for the Sydneysider, who opened for Glass Animals on their Australian headline tour in 2024, played to a massive crowd at Yours & Owls in March last year and was selected by Cyndi Lauper to sing “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” on stage at her sold-out Sydney show.

MAY-A got her career off to a hot start with debut EP Don’t Kiss Ur Friends, which landed an ARIA Award nomination in 2021 for breakthrough artist. The following year, she had a hit with “Say Nothing,” a collaboration with Flume which topped triple j’s Hottest 100 countdown. Currently, she boasts more than 422,000 Spotify subscribers.

Spotify launched RADAR in 2020, and has spotlighted such acts as merci, mercy, CHAII, Genesis Owusu, Youngn Lipz, Baker Boy, grentperez, Larissa Lambert, Royel Otis, PANIA, Young Franco, and DON WEST.
