Manchester United and The Stone Roses team up for new Adidas collection

Adidas has launched a new collection bringing together Manchester United and The Stone Roses, celebrating Manchester’s connection between football, music and style – check it out here.

The collection pays homage to the Madchester icons, drawing inspiration from their iconic artwork reimagined across Adidas Originals clothing, footwear and accessories.

“The Stone Roses and Manchester United represent two global movements that were born in Manchester and went on to shape youth culture far beyond the city,” said Adidas design director Inigo Turner. “This collection is about honouring that shared history through design – blending iconic artwork, football heritage and adidas Originals style to create pieces that feel authentic, expressive and deeply rooted in Manchester’s cultural identity.”

Man United, meanwhile, shared the collection on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Definitely adoring this one…” alongside rose and heart emojis.

Definitely adoring this one… 🥀❤️

The most eye-catching item is the Manchester United Stone Roses Jersey, which features an all-over graphic print inspired by the band’s artwork, while the Manchester United Stone Roses Track Top and Track Pants rework Adidas silhouettes with all-over prints and heritage detailing, and the Stone Roses Jacket brings together engineered jacquard fabric and subtle lemon motifs.

There are also three new items of footwear, including a black ZX 600 trainer, as well as a Stone Roses T-shirt, scarf and bucket hat.

Players from both the men’s and women’s team have taken part in a photoshoot to show off the collection, including Kobbie Mainoo, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Šeško, Melvine Malard, Fridolina Rolfö and Jess Park. Take a look at some of the shots here:

You can find out more information and buy the Manchester United x Stone Roses collection from Manchester United stores, selected Adidas retail stores, and on Adidas’ website.

Man United and The Stone Roses share a long history, the Premier League team’s chief business officer Marc Armstrong describing the band as “part of the fabric of Manchester United supporter culture, both in the city and around the world”. Their track ‘This Is The One’ has long been played on matchdays at Old Trafford, and three of the four members – including late bassist Mani – have been devoted supporters.

They first launched a collection almost two years ago, in February 2024, centred on the artwork on the band’s iconic 1989 debut album. To mark the launch, players from the men’s and women’s teams took part in a photo shoot paying homage to legendary portraits of the band, while a short film, Roses Are Red, was also shared, featuring appearances from former United players Gary Neville and Wes Brown and Courteeners frontman Liam Fray.

The new collection launch, meanwhile, comes just after Man United paid tribute to Mani ahead of their match against Arsenal on Sunday (January 25).

Mani, real name Gary Mounfield, died from respiratory issues in November aged 63, and Man United legends Neville and David Beckham were among those paying their respects at his funeral the following month.

On Sunday, United walked out of the tunnel at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium wearing jackets with ‘Mani 1962-2025’ printed beneath the club crest, alongside artwork reminiscent of The Stone Roses’ first album.

United paid tribute to Mani after his death, too, writing at the time: “A lifelong Red and friend of the club…Mani’s music continues to be played at every Old Trafford matchday and most notably when ‘This is the One’ signals the teams walking out of the tunnel. It continued to make him proud when attending fixtures with his family. The club was part of his DNA and he was proud to be Red.”

They concluded: “A part of Manchester’s history, Mani will be sadly missed by everybody who knew and loved him. The club’s thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.”
