Bad Bunny denounces ICE in powerful speech at Grammy Awards

Bad Bunny declared “ICE out” in a passionate speech at the 2026 Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

Taking to the stage at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the Puerto Rican rapper accepted the prize for Best Música Urbana Album for his sixth solo studio album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos.

To begin, Bad Bunny – real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio – called for the removal of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents amid rising violence.

“Before I say thanks to God, I’m gonna say ICE out. We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens – we are humans, and we are Americans,” he stated, prompting a standing ovation from the star-studded crowd. “Also, I wanna say to the people: I know it’s tough not to hate these days, and I was thinking sometimes we get contaminado (contaminated).”

Bad Bunny went on to insist that the “only thing that is more powerful than hate is love” and pleaded with fans to modify their views on the issue.

“We need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. We don’t hate them. We love our people, we love our family, and that’s the way to do it… with love. Don’t forget that, please. Thank you. Thank you, God, and thank you to the Grammys,” the 31-year-old added.

In recent months, ICE agents have undertaken raids in cities across America as part of President Donald Trump’s pledge to crack down on illegal immigration.

But all eyes have been on Minneapolis, Minnesota, with tension mounting following the fatal shootings of Alex Pretti by U.S. Border Patrol officers and Renée Good by an ICE agent last month.

Previously, Bad Bunny cited concerns that ICE could target fans at his concerts as a reason for not touring North America in 2025.

At the 2026 Grammy Awards, Bad Bunny also won Best Global Music Performance for Eoo and Album of the Year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos.

And amid his acceptance speech for Album of the Year, the King of Latin Trap acknowledged immigrants once more.

“I want to dedicate this award to all the people who had to leave their homeland, their country, to follow their dreams,” the superstar smiled.

Bad Bunny is set to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show, becoming the first solo Latino artist to do so, on 8 February.
