Kid Rock has given his verdict on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, insisting he “didn’t understand any of it”.

The All Summer Long hitmaker, who headlined Turning Point USA’s alternative All-American Halftime Show on Sunday, has shared his thoughts on the Puerto Rican singer’s Spanish-language performance at Levi’s Stadium in California.

“Like most people, I didn’t understand any of it,” Rock said on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle on Monday. “I saw there’s a lot of dancers and a lot of big to-do stuff. And, you know, he said he wanted to have a dance party; it looked like he had one.”

The conservative rocker, real name Robert James Ritchie, noted that he didn’t have any personal issue with Bad Bunny.

“Not my cup of tea, but I don’t fault that kid for doing the Super Bowl, getting in front of a global audience,” he continued. “I fault the NFL for putting him in that position and Turning Point for having to come out and have an alternative for people to watch. You know, it’s just – poor kid.”

Kid Rock has been widely derided for his performance during the show, with many accusing him of lip-syncing.

During the interview, he explained that he had a “syncing issue” with his DJ and that it was “very difficult” to correct in post-production, which essentially confirms that the show was pre-recorded rather than live.

“I even told them when I saw the rough cut, I was like, ‘You guys got to work on that sync. It’s off,'” he shared. “So it was just a syncing issue that they had, and I know they tried to get it right. It was very difficult.”

The All-American Halftime Show, which also featured performances from Brantley Gilbert, Gabby Barrett and Lee Brice, reached up to 6.1 million concurrent viewers during the livestream, while Bad Bunny smashed the record for the most-watched Super Bowl Halftime Show in history with 135.4 million views.

Lady Gaga, who was a surprise guest alongside Ricky Martin, thanked Bad Bunny, real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, for including her “in this powerful, important, and meaningful performance”.

“I am so humbled to be a part of this moment,” she added. “It’s all the more special because it was with you and your beautiful heart and music.”
