The UK music scene is currently orbiting one star: Olivia Dean. According to the latest Official Chart: First Look, the Grammy-winning singer is in pole position to secure her second Number 1 single with the soulful hit “So Easy (To Fall In Love).”

The timing couldn’t be more perfect. Dean, now 26, is heading into the BRIT Awards with a staggering five nominations. If “So Easy” holds its lead until Friday, it will join her October smash “Man I Need” as a chart-topper.

This potential victory follows a historic start to 2026 for Dean. Her album The Art of Loving recently became the longest-running Number 1 album by a British female artist this decade. It marks a triumphant ascent for the star, who has been a Top 40 mainstay since late last year.

It’s a double-threat week for Dean, as her collaboration with Geordie icon Sam Fender, “Rein Me In,” is breathing down her own neck at Number 2. Up three places, the track is vying to give Fender his first-ever Number 1 single.

Meanwhile, a decade-long journey may be coming full circle for Zara Larsson. Her 2016 anthem “Lush Life” is currently on track to move up four spots to Number 3, potentially equaling its original peak. Larsson is also enjoying success with PinkPantheress on the track “Stateside,” which looks set to reach a new peak of Number 9.

The mid-week data highlights several other major moves. Bad Bunny is eyeing movement for “NUEVAYoL” and a high entry for the resurgent “Tití Me Preguntó.” The Wuthering Heights soundtrack is also making waves, with three tracks from Charli xcx pacing for the Top 40.

Central Cee is also set for a strong entry at Number 25 following the announcement of his March album ALL ROADS LEAD TO HOME. From Fred again.. and Jamie T’s latest collaboration to Luke Combs’ country takeover, the charts are reflecting a vibrant start to the year. All eyes remain on Friday’s final tally to see if Olivia Dean can truly claim the throne.
