Shakira, Pink and Lauryn Hill are among the nominees up for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Hips Don’t Lie singer, So What hitmaker and former Fugees star are among the 17 nominees for the class of 2026, alongside other first-timers Melissa Etheridge, INXS, New Edition, Wu-Tang Clan and late singers Jeff Buckley and Luther Vandross.

This also marks Phil Collins’ first year on the ballot as a solo act, however, he was inducted into the famed music institution as a member of Genesis in 2010.

In addition, Mariah Carey is up for consideration again this year, marking her third consecutive nomination, alongside other three-time nominees Oasis, Iron Maiden and Joy Division/New Order.

Rounding out the class of 2026 contenders are The Black Crowes, Billy Idol and Sade, who are all on their second nomination.

“This diverse list of talented nominees recognises the ever-evolving faces and sounds of Rock & Roll and its continued impact on youth culture,” John Sykes, chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a statement. “Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honour and we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2026 this Fall.”

Addressing the nomination, Andrew Farriss from the Australian band INXS told Billboard that their late frontman Michael Hutchence, who died in 1997 at the age of 37, would be “honoured” by the recognition.

“One thing he said very early on in our career is, ‘One day I’d like to think whatever we did mattered.’ That’s something he said. I think this shows that it did. That’s pretty cool,” Farriss said.

Artists become eligible for induction into the Rock Hall when their debut recording turns 25 years old, meaning this year’s nominees released their first recording in 2001 or earlier.

The inductees will be officially announced in April, followed by a star-studded induction ceremony in the autumn.

Last year’s class included Cyndi Lauper, Bad Company, OutKast, The White Stripes and Soundgarden.
