Irish punks The Scratch share fiery but reflective new single ‘Gladrags’

Irish punk band The Scratch have shared their new single, the fiery but reflective ‘Gladrags’ – watch the video below.

The band are preparing to release their new album ‘Pull Like A Dog’ via Music For Nations on March 13, and this track follows the previous single ‘Pullin’ Teeth’.

‘Gladrags’ was partially inspired by the band listening to an interview with Tyler, The Creator, and the band have said: “It’s about how being inattentive can land me in hot water, which ironically makes me wander further into my thoughts, resulting in this perpetual cycle of inattentiveness. But also seeing it in others and observing how they try to cover it up/deal with it.”

Check out the video for ‘Gladrags’ below, directed by Colin Peppard and featuring the band dressed as professional snooker players.

Last July, The Scratch were one of the bands to boycott Radar Festival following the organisers’ decision to remove Bob Vylan from the bill after their Glastonbury controversy.

“The censorship and de-platforming of artists speaking out against the ongoing genocide in Gaza is greasy, dangerous and must be challenged,” they wrote. “To be clear, this decision is not a criticism of Radar Festival. We understand it was an incredibly difficult and complex situation. This is about showing solidarity with Bob Vylan and any artist who may face similar treatment in the future.”

“Shadowy government influence and wealthy lobbying groups should not be allowed to dictate who is given a platform and what can be said on it,” they added. “This situation will only worsen unless we, as artists, support one another and take action.”
