St. Vincent has covered Depeche Mode, Jeff Buckley and more at an intimate show in California – see below for fan-filmed gig footage.
On Tuesday (March 3), the musician played a surprise show at Little Saint in Healdsburg, California. Performing her own hits like ‘New York’, ‘Los Ageless’ and ‘Candy Darling’, St. Vincent was accompanied by her keyboardist, Rachel Eckroth.
During her California show, St. Vincent also played a number of covers. Following her song ‘Violent Times’ (taken from her most recent album, 2024’s ‘All Born Screaming‘), St. Vincent performed a solo rendition of Jeff Buckley’s ‘Grace’.
Later in the evening, she also sung her version of Rufus Wainwright‘s ‘Poses’, along with Depeche Mode classic ‘Personal Jesus’, reportedly requested by a fan (as per Setlist.fm). To cap off her run of covers, St. Vincent performed jazz composer Billy Strayhorn’s ‘Lush Life’.

St. Vincent is no stranger to performing covers on stage, having played Depeche Mode’s ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ alongside Bleacher’s Jack Antonoff in 2018. Antonoff produced St. Vincent’s 2017 record ‘MASSEDUCTION‘, which NME went on to rate four stars.
She also recently played a cover of David Bowie’s Young Americans’ on Colbert last December.
Meanwhile, we last spoke to the musician in 2024, where she spoke about teaming up with Dave Grohl, who drummed on ‘All Born Screaming‘. “Dave Grohl is a buddy and he came into my studio and, like, everything they say is true: he’s the nicest guy in rock and the most fun hang,” she told NME. “Like, he just drives over in his truck and because he’s so musical, he’s heard the song a few times and knows every twist and turn.
“So you just hang and smoke some Parliaments; he tells war stories, you drink some coffee and smoke more Parliaments, and then he’s like: ‘Cool, let’s go!’ And he goes in there and it’s Dave Fucking Grohl on the drums and he plays it perfectly. Man, it just lights you up to hear him play.”
