Lola Young announces four summer UK shows as part of return to touring: “Playing live is my happy place”

After making her return to touring with a London Palladium show last week, Lola Young has announced a run of four UK shows in June – buy tickets here.

The ‘Messy’ singer shared the news on Instagram, announcing that she’d be playing shows in Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and London.

“A few nights ago I played my first show back since September last year and it felt so right being back on stage,” she wrote. “Anyone who knows me knows playing live is my happy place.

“As tempting as it is to jump into a big tour I’m going to continue taking things slowly despite feeling so ready to perform more. With that in mind I’m announcing a small run of shows in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow in June and I’d love you to come. I love you all, always x.”

Fans on Young’s mailing list will get pre-sale access – you can sign up here – while tickets will go on general sale at 10am on Friday (March 13). You can get those tickets here.

Fellow musicians and famous friends shared their support for Young on her return to touring in the comments. “In awe of you,” said Lily Allen, while CMAT said she would be “violently there,” Sasha Keable said she was “so proud,” Chelsea Handler wrote, “You do your thing, baby. You’ve got all the time in the world,” and Elton John simply left a rocket emoji.

About her return to touring, she said: “Coming back to performing live is everything to me. I felt so alive and connected to everyone at the show on Wednesday night. I’m ready, prepared and grateful to anyone that wants to come to my show for a good cry, laugh or to shake your ass with me.”

At the London Palladium on March 4, former NME cover star Young played a stripped-back set, while she told fans last week that she “can’t wait” to release new music.

It was her first live show since cancelling a tour in 2025 to recover from exhaustion, after she collapsed on stage in New York City. Following the gig, Young took to Instagram to reassure fans that she was “doing OK” after being carried off stage by a medical team, but later announced that she would be pulling out of her Washington DC set at All Things Go the next day.

She was also due to embark on a UK tour last autumn, but went on to take a break from all commitments for the “foreseeable future” to focus on her mental wellbeing.

At the start of February, she performed her hit single ‘Messy’ at the Grammy Awards, while she also accepted the award for Best Pop Solo Performance. And last weekend, she won the Breakthrough Artist award at the BRIT Awards.

Also coming up is a performance at the 34th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party in California on March 15, before she plays the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles the following night.

Young released her third album, ‘I’m Only Fucking Myself’, in September, following her 2023 debut ‘My Mind Wanders And Sometimes Leaves Completely’ and 2024’s ‘This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway’.

In a four-star review, NME wrote: “At times, ‘I’m Only Fucking Myself’ feels a little all over the place – though, cramming so many interesting and surprising spins on pop into one record, and largely pulling it off, is still commendable. One of the more interesting new names breaking out right now, Young proves that there’s far more to her repertoire than ‘Messy’, and though it occasionally lacks focus as an album, it also tees up plenty of excitement for whatever’s next.”
