“Phenomenal” new Oasis documentary is currently four hours long, reveals Steven Knight

Steven Knight has shared more details about his forthcoming Oasis documentary, calling it “phenomenal”.

The Peaky Blinders creator is producing the new doc, which will follow the Britpop giants’ return for their huge Live ’25 reunion tour.

It is created and produced by Knight, and directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace – known for the LCD Soundsystem documentary Shut Up And Play The Hits.

According to reports, the project will contain some “phenomenal” footage of Liam and Noel Gallagher’s first meeting ahead of their comeback shows.

Knight recently spoke to Project Big Screen to promote his new film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. During the interview, he shared a progress update on the Oasis Live ’25 movie.

“It’s phenomenal,” Knight said. “We’ve got it down to four hours, so we’ve gotta get it down to [a shorter runtime].”

He continued: “But it’s a documentary with a plot, do you know what I mean? It’s actually got a story. And then we’ve expanded it… you’ll see when you see it.

“It’s been great, and they’re great. I interviewed [the Gallagher brothers], and they’re just one quote after another. They’re just so funny.”

You can see a clip of the conversation in the post above.

Noel Gallagher recently spoke about the documentary, too, saying: “I’ve only seen a tiny little bit of it and it’s difficult to have an opinion on it because I’m only looking at little snippets.

“Everyone who has seen it, or seen more of it than I have, has said that it’s amazing. If it even captures five per cent of what that tour was, it’ll be astonishing. Looking forward to it.”

Noel explained: “The gigs were amazing, particularly the ones in Manchester, and I’m kind of lost for words for it, really. The gigs spoke for themselves.”

For the film, Knight’s crew were allowed access to the meetings and rehearsal rooms that preceded Oasis historic reunion last summer. Sources previously claimed that Oasis fans would be “spellbound” by watching the brothers work through their feud.

Last month, Noel revealed he was back in the recording studio. However, it is currently not known whether this was for new Oasis music or something else. The musician had said earlier that he was “back at work” following his Christmas break.

At the final Live ’25 concert in São Paulo, Brazil, last November, Liam Gallagher told the audience: “We love you, thanks for all your energy. Take care of yourselves, and we’ll see you again sometime.”

Noel recently won the Songwriter Of The Year award at the BRITs 2026, where he thanked his brother Liam and their bandmates, past and present. “Without them, I’d just be a singer-songwriter, and no-one gives a shit about singer-songwriters,” he said.

In other news, Liam has responded to Oasis currently falling behind in votes for this year’s Rock Hall Of Fame.

Oasis have released some official live versions of tracks from different cities on the Live ’25 tour: ‘Slide Away’ from Cardiff, ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ from Manchester, ‘Little By Little’ from London, ‘Bring It On Down’ from Edinburgh and ‘Wonderwall’ from Dublin.

Earlier this month, they shared a performance of ‘Acquiesce’ from Wembley as part of the star-studded ‘Help(2)’ album in aid of War Child.
