Muse announces tenth studio album ‘The WOW! Signal’ with launch into space

Global rock titans Muse have officially announced their forthcoming tenth studio album, The WOW! Signal, set for release on June 26 via Warner Records. In a move reflecting the band’s career-long obsession with cosmic mystery, the announcement was literally launched into the atmosphere.

In partnership with Sent Into Space, Muse sent a specially designed tablet 33km above the Earth to premiere the music video for their exhilarating new single, “Be With You.” A second craft carried limited-edition vinyl stickers to be claimed by fans, cementing the album’s status as an “out of this world” event.

The album takes its title from the famous 1977 interstellar mystery—a 72-second radio burst from the constellation Sagittarius so powerful that the discovering astronomer famously circled the data and wrote “WOW!” on the printout. This theme of extraterrestrial contact and existential hope provides the foundational energy for the new record.

The lead single, “Be With You,” serves as a massive opening salvo for the project. The track begins with a humming church organ and Matt Bellamy’s soaring vocals before igniting into a fusion of driving electronica and searing rock.

The accompanying cinematic video, directed by Nico Paolillo, stars Ella Balinska (Resident Evil, The Occupant). It depicts a terrifying yet beautiful phenomenon as Balinska is drawn out into a night dominated by a mysterious red halo clinging to the moon.

The WOW! Signal marks Muse’s first release since 2022’s Will Of The People, which became the band’s seventh consecutive UK Number One album. With ten tracks—including “Nightshift Superstar,” “Cryogen,” and “Space Debris”—the new album promises a journey into the unknown, blending cosmic mystery with the exhilarating possibility of contact with something greater than ourselves.
