The New Record: “Windows Down, Summer Vibes”
Fresh off his album announcement, Horan described the upcoming project as a diverse sonic journey. “I feel like it’s got a bit of everything,” he told the hosts. “A bit of sexiness—when you think of sexy, you think me!—and there’s a bit of fear of losing that special person… it’s windows down, summer-type music.”
While country music is currently dominating the global charts, Niall revealed he is playing the long game. Though he admits he wants to record a “country-leaning album” eventually, he isn’t rushing into it while the genre is so crowded. “I don’t want to do it at a time that everyone else is doing it,” he explained.
Romance and Rivalries
Niall also shared the charming “origin story” of his long-term relationship, which began at a simple dinner party. “There was a late addition, and she’s been my girlfriend since,” he reminisced. “I found myself just wanting to do more of that [chatting] that evening and then for the rest of time.”
When asked which of his famous friends makes the best dinner guest, Niall didn’t hesitate to name Lewis Capaldi. “Lewis is the star of the show in every room he goes into,” Niall joked. “Everyone is just pissing themselves laughing. He’s funny, and he’s always got the aux lead in an Uber.”
The “Resident One-Song Man”
Addressing his frequent surprise appearances at other artists’ concerts, the former One Direction star laughed off his veteran status. “I don’t do full gigs; I just come on and do the one song… I’m the resident one-song man! I’m the old guy now.”
With his fourth album on the horizon, fans can expect more than just “one song” from Niall as he gears up for a major summer of music.
