Jennie performed “Dracula” for the first time live at Hong Kong’s Complex Live music festival on Sunday night. The Blackpink singer took the stage at the AsiaWorld-Expo for a 10-song solo set that focused on tracks from her album Ruby and took the opportunity to showcase “Dracula,” the Tame Impala song she recently remixed.
Jennie and Tame Impala teamed up for the track, originally off the Australian group’s recent LP, Deadbeat, in February. The new version features Jennie adding her own twist to the vocals, as seen live.
Jennie dropped Ruby, her debut solo LP, last March via her own record label Odd Atelier and Columbia Records. The 15-track effort featured collaborations with Childish Gambino, Doechii, Dominic Fike, Dua Lipa, FKJ, and Kali Uchis.
Since that release, Blackpink reunited for a new mini album, Deadline, and the Deadline World Tour, which wrapped in Hong Kong in July. Deadline, released in February, features five tracks, including the group’s comeback single “Jump.” In August, Blackpink became the first K-pop girl group to headline Wembley Stadium. During the show, they paid tribute to a fellow girl-group sensation who preceded them, performing Spice Girls’ 1996 smash debut single, “Wannabe.”
Tame Impala dropped Deadbeat in October. The album is the Kevin Parker-fronted group’s fifth full-length album. Parker described the long-awaited follow-up to 2020’s The Slow Rush as “kind of a future primitive rave act.”
