Lily Allen, Olivia Dean and Lola Young are among the nominees for this year’s Ivor Novello Awards.

The Smile hitmaker has received her third-ever Ivors nomination and is up for Best Album for her explosive breakup record West End Girl.

The Ivor Novello Award for Best Album celebrates exceptional songwriting craft, creativity and cohesion across the record as a whole. Other nominees shortlisted for the prize include Jim Legxacy’s Black British Music, Olivia Dean’s The Art Of Loving, Wolf Alice’s The Clearing, and CMAT’s Euro-Country.

The Ivors recognise British and Irish musical achievement in songwriting and composition, and this year, 61 individuals have been nominated, with 34 being first-time nominees.

Dean, who had a successful night at the BRIT Awards in February, is one of those first-time nominees. In addition to the Best Album prize, she is up for PRS for Music Most Performed Work for her hit song Man I Need.

Other nominees in that category include Lola Young with Messy, Myles Smith with Stargazing, Coldplay’s Viva La Vida and The Days by Chrystal.

Wolf Alice are also double nominees this year, and are up for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for their track The Sofa too. They are shortlisted alongside Jacob Alon (Don’t Fall Asleep), Florence + The Machine (Everybody Scream), Self-Esteem (Focus Is Power) and Sugababes (Weeds).

Fellow double nominee Self-Esteem, real name Rebecca Lucy Taylor, is also a contender for Best Contemporary Song for I Do and I Don’t Care, alongside Damascus by Gorillaz feat. Omar Souleyman and Yasiin Bey, Free by Little Simz, and I Stand on the Line and Know Yourself, both by Kae Tempest.

The awards ceremony takes place in London on 21 May.

It has also been revealed that Allen, who is currently on tour with West End Girl, will receive the Icon Award at Nordoff and Robbins’s O2 Silver Clef Awards. She will receive the honour at the music therapy charity’s fundraiser at London’s Royal Albert Hall on 9 July.

Other honourees include Sam Fender, Hamnet composer Max Richter and Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi.
