Elton John’s ‘The Remixes’ featuring The Blessed Madonna, Purple Disco Machine and more set for vinyl Record Store Day release before hitting Beatport

Elton John‘s ‘The Remixes’ album is set to be released on vinyl for Record Store Day, before being available to download on Beatport. Find all the details below.

The 19th instalment of RSD takes place on Saturday April 18, and will celebrate independent record shops and vinyl culture in the UK. More than 300 UK and Ireland record shops will be taking part, alongside thousands of indie retailers worldwide, as they sell an array of exclusive physical releases on a first-come-first-served basis and host some in-store events for one day only.

John’s album ‘Elton John: The Remixes’ will be available as a limited-edition glow-in-the-dark 1LP, on the day, exclusively at participating record stores and via Positiva Records.

Now, it’s been announced that the following day, the album will be available to download exclusively on Beatport. You can pre-order it here.

The album presents John’s deep connection to club culture and dance music, and features five remixes on vinyl for the first time, with edits by The Blessed Madonna, Purple Disco Machine, The 2 Bears, Shine A Light, Claptone, Shep Pettibone, Sanchez and KDME. You can find a full tracklist further on.

Speaking on the news, John said: “Record Store Day is incredibly important to me and with this package I really think we’ve made something special for dance music fans. I first got into dance music in ’70s New York through disco and those early days at clubs like Le Jardin and Studio 54. It’s been a huge part of my life ever since.

“As a genre, it’s so progressive and it’s always evolving and pushing boundaries, and it’s never far from the mainstream,” he continued. “God knows how many 12″ dance records I’ve bought over the years, and I get sent so many great dance and electronic records that I get to champion on my Rocket Hour radio show. Positiva is such an iconic label and I’m thrilled they will be releasing this collection of my favourite remixes from over the years.”

John has long been a champion of young talent and has been an early champion of artists like Rina Sawayama, Sam Fender, and Lola Young on his Apple Music radio show Rocket Hour.

Speaking to NME in 2021, John told us: “I’ve never lost the desire to hear new music,” adding that the show has introduced him “to a whole ballgame of new artists – music that I wouldn’t otherwise necessarily have heard because Apple send me a lot of stuff.”

He added: “However, I also scan the websites of the NME and places like that to find records that I wouldn’t have heard. I’m always on the lookout for new things. I’ve become friends with most young artists on the record, and I just love promoting new records.”

As for Record Store Day 2026, the likes of Bowie, The Snuts and Nilüfer Yanya, The Cure, Fleetwood Mac, Divorce, Primal Scream, Bring Me The Horizon & Sigrid and the Manics‘ James Dean Bradfield and Nicky Wire are among those dropping one-off records for the benefit of RSD’s charity partner War Child.

Other highlights include Muse re-releasing their super rare first two pre-fame EPs, as well as Bring Me The Horizon and Sigrid’s 2022 collab ‘Bad Life‘ on blue vinyl for the first time, Paramore’s ‘All We Know Is Falling’ on deluxe red double vinyl, Charli XCX’s ‘Party 4U’ on a seven-inch single, a 30th anniversary vinyl re-release for Blur’s classic ‘Live At The Budokan’, Suede’s seminal ‘Coming Up’ performed live at the BBC on pink vinyl and a 12” neon pink EP of David Bowie’s ‘Hallo Spaceboy’ as well as a half-speed record of excerpts from his ‘1.OUTSIDE’ LP.

This year’s Record Store Day arrives with vinyl sales at their highest level in 20 years. The Digital Entertainment and Retail Association report that the market for vinyl records grew by 18.6 per cent, in value terms with over 7.5 million discs sold last year, generating £238million.
