Lindsey Buckingham’s Stalker Charged After Attacking Him in Santa Monica

Last week, Lindsey Buckingham was attacked by a stalking suspect while walking into an appointment in Santa Monica, California; that woman, who allegedly threw an unknown substance at him, has now been charged with seven criminal counts in Los Angeles County, reports Rolling Stone. The former Fleetwood Mac musician was not injured in the incident, but he had a restraining order preventing her from making contact.

Among the charges against Michelle Dick are one felony count of making criminal threats, a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon involving a motor vehicle on March 19, a felony count of vandalizing Buckingham’s Mercedes-Benz S450 on March 19, one separate felony count of making a criminal threat against Buckingham on March 25, and a misdemeanor battery charge for allegedly using force during that incident. In a felony complaint, prosecutors alleged that Dick stalked Buckingham between late 2021 and March 2026, and charged her with stalking both him and a second alleged victim, Stephanie N., placing them in fear of their safety. A judge issued an arrest warrant for Dick and set bail at $300,000.

In November 2024, Buckingham was granted a restraining order against Dick after outlining her alleged harassment over the years and claiming he was “afraid her conduct may escalate into something physically dangerous to me and my family.” What began as dozens of phone calls and “long, drawn-out messages that included the claim she was my child and threats to kill me and my family” escalated to Dick blaming Buckingham for “facial deformities she suffered as a child,” which he denied, and her demanding money. Buckingham claimed that Dick made threats at a San Francisco venue where he performed, left a photo collage with pictures from her Instagram at his home address, and parked her car outside the house he shared with his wife.

On November 3, 2024, Dick allegedly used her phone to call 911 and falsely report Buckingham’s son was “suicidal” inside the home and she heard gunshots, prompting a swatting incident at the musician’s home. Buckingham was briefly detained while a dozen police officers searched the premises before determining his son was safe and releasing the musician from custody. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Elizabeth Scully granted the petition on December 20, 2024, ordering Dick to stay a minimum of 100 yards away from Buckingham, his wife, his son, their homes, and their vehicles for five years, and barring her from contacting the Buckingham family in any way.

After undergoing open heart surgery in 2019, Buckingham released his seventh and latest solo studio album, Lindsey Buckingham, in 2021. Last year, he and Stevie Nicks announced a long-awaited reissue of Buckingham Nicks, the 1973 album they co-wrote and performed together two years prior to joining Fleetwood Mac.
