The Prodigy have dropped a “dirty, acid 303” remix of Sleaford Mods‘ track, ‘Elitest G.O.A.T’. Check it out below.

The track was originally released as part of the Nottingham noise duo’s latest album, ‘The Demise Of Planet X’ – which dropped at the start of the year and featured Aldous Harding.

Now, Liam Howlett has put a new spin on the track and helped it blend the pioneering spirit of The Prodigy with the innovative, boundary-pushing energy of Sleaford Mods.

Titled the ‘Acid Thunder Remix’, the new version is out now and will also be available on two limited-edition seven-inch singles from June 26. Pre-order here.

As well as the new Liam Howlett version, Sleaford Mods’ own Andrew Fearn has also reworked the track as Extnddntwrk.

“Who could ask for more? A Prodigy Remix for ‘Elitest G.O.A.T’ that turns it into another tune entirely,” said Mods’ frontman Jason Williamson. “I can’t believe it. Added to that is ‘Extnddntwrk’s under the sensor shift as well. Fuckin’ yes!”

This isn’t the first time that Sleaford Mods have teamed up with The Prodigy. Back in 2015, the two worked together when Jason Williamson appeared in the music video for the Essex rave act’s song ‘Ibiza’.

Later that year, the singer joined Keith Flint and co. on stage as they brought the Isle Of Wight Festival main stage to a close.

Speaking about what it was like to be back working together after over a decade, Howlett shared: “Me and Jason collaborated on our tune, ‘Ibiza’, a few years back, so it was good to get involved with the lads again on this remix.

“I wanted to hear Jason’s snarlin’ vocal on some dirty, acid 303, so that’s what I cooked up for my version. Along with Aldous Harding’s great vocal, which comes at a different angle to the original tune… Acid Thunder, baby!”

NME gave ‘The Demise Of Planet X’ a four-star review, writing: “Sleaford Mods are never in the same stagnation as the doldrums that inspire them.

“Williamson’s powerless rage bristles with enough humour, brutal honesty and inventive imagery to keep you guessing, while multi-instrumentalist Andrew Fearn – stepping up as co-producer on this record – adds flashes of genre-clashing colour and light to make this the band’s most musically ambitious and diverse record yet.”

As for The Prodigy, later this month Howlett and Maxim will kick off their UK and Ireland arena dates – a 12-date tour that sold out in record time and includes two dates at London’s Wembley Arena.

They will then be playing some massive ‘Warrior’s Dance’ outdoor gigs in the summer, which are some of their biggest shows since Keith Flint’s death in 2019. Visit here for any remaining tickets.

Fans can more new music from The Prodigy too, as Howlett revealed to NME in November that they were underway with writing some new “fuckin’ evil rave” music.
