Jack White hits out at Trump’s Jesus meme: “How can any so-called Christian support him after this blasphemy?”

Jack White has hit out at President Donald Trump‘s recent meme depicting himself as Jesus Christ, and criticised his attacks on Pope Leo.

The musician, a former altar boy whose mother was a devout Catholic, took to Instagram last night (Monday April 13) to share his thoughts on Trump’s controversial Truth Social post.

“Hey evangelical Christians? Remember that anti-Christ you been squawking about all these years and how he’d present himself as Christlike and bring about the end of days with a final war in the Middle East involving Jerusalem? Well…check out your boy now!” he wrote.

“Listen, if the felonies, Epstein files, rapes, bombing of schoolchildren, gestapo ICE agents attacking his own citizens, threatening to invade Greenland, Cuba, Venezuela and Iran all didn’t convince you that you fell for this deranged grifter, maybe this lil’ post will?”

White went on: “How can any so-called Christian support him after this blasphemy? How could any Catholic support him after he attacks the character of their Pope multiple times? How did so many millions of people fall for this conman?

“He’s already got worst President in the history of America on lock, but I’m gonna go ahead and take the honour of pronouncing Trump ‘Worst American of All Time’.”

The AI-generated image showed the POTUS appearing to heal an ill man in a hospital bed, and prompted widespread backlash – including from some of Trump’s most ardent supporters.

He has since deleted the post, and had claimed that the photo depicted him “as a doctor, and had to do with Red Cross, as a Red Cross worker there, which we support… only the ‘fake news’ could come up with that one”.

White wasn’t convinced, however, and said the “backlash” was warranted because “SOME christians actually take their own religion seriously”.

“Trump is now saying that this AI image depicts him as a doctor for the Red Cross!” the singer-songwriter added. “He lies, then lies about the lie, then doubles down on that lie with another lie and they Just. Keep. Falling. For. It.”

White, who is a fervent critic of the US President, hit out at Trump earlier this year over his military campaign in Iran and mocked him for being the leader of the Board of Peace. He had previously called for him to be removed from office after a racist meme was shared on his Truth Social account, depicting former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes.

In January, White poked fun at Trump’s rambling anniversary press conference. He was also one of many celebrities to condemn the POTUS for his comments regarding the death of Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle.

Last month saw White criticise the Treasury Department’s plans to put Trump‘s signature on all new US paper currency. He took aim at what he characterised as Congressional inaction, as well, saying Trump was a “manipulative, loophole finding, egomaniacal, conman”. White went on to question if the regulation of Trump’s commercial ventures – which include branded Bibles, commemorative coins and shoes – were functioning at all.

Meanwhile, White delivered an epic, hit-filled early set at Coachella 2026 last weekend. He has just announced tour dates in the UK, Ireland and North America for later this year, including a double header at London’s Eventim Apollo, as well as some shows in Europe. Find any remaining tickets here.

White released two new singles – ‘G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs’ and ’Derecho Demonico’ – earlier this month, before performing them on Saturday Night Live the following day. He also teamed up with SNL host Jack Black for a version of The White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’.

The pair of tracks marked White’s first new music since his Grammy-nominated 2024 album, ‘No Name’.
