Olivia Rodrigo claims fourth Number 1 as Justin Bieber hits new peak

The UK Official Singles Chart has a new ruler this week as Olivia Rodrigo storms straight to Number 1 with her comeback single, “drop dead.” The track marks the first release from her highly anticipated third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, and secures Rodrigo her fourth chart-topping trophy following the success of “drivers license,” “good 4 u,” and “vampire.”

In reaching the summit, Rodrigo has finally toppled Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s dominant anthem “Rein Me In.” The collaboration ends its impressive tenure at the top after five consecutive weeks at Number 1 and eight weeks at the peak in total, sliding down to Number 2.

It isn’t just new releases making waves; “Bieber Fever” has officially returned to the Top 10. Fueled by a post-Coachella resurgence, Justin Bieber’s 2012 hit “Beauty and a Beat” (featuring Nicki Minaj) has achieved a brand-new peak of Number 3, jumping eight places this week. The nostalgia continues throughout the Top 40, with Bieber’s 2010 breakout classic “Baby” returning to the charts for the first time in 16 years at Number 17, while his Sean Kingston collaboration “Eenie Meenie” re-enters at Number 32.

Physical media also dictated significant movement this week. Taylor Swift claims the title of the week’s highest climber with “Elizabeth Taylor,” which rocketed 59 places to Number 14. The surge is attributed to a special violet glitter vinyl released exclusively for Record Store Day.

Fresh talent is also making a mark on the standings. Californian artist Malcolm Todd continues his upward trajectory, with his debut entry “Earrings” climbing eight spots to Number 29. Meanwhile, dance producers Prospa and Cloonee saw their club hit “Free Your Mind” rise nine places to land at Number 30.

The week rounds out with new entries from sombr, who secures a sixth Top 40 appearance with “Potential” at Number 31, and the powerhouse pairing of Tyla and Zara Larsson, whose collaboration “SHE DID IT AGAIN” makes its debut in the standings at Number 40.
