Metallica announce ‘Reload (Remastered)’ featuring unreleased material and loads more

Metallica have announced ‘Reload (Remastered)’ featuring unreleased material and loads more.

The thrash metal icons will re-release their seventh studio album on June 26 via Blackened Recordings.

The album – which went quadruple platinum when it was first released and contains hits like ‘Fuel’, ‘The Unforgiven II’ and ‘The Memory Remains’ – has been remastered Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering with Greg Fidelman overseeing. It’s set to contain unreleased demos, rough mixes, live performances, clips of on-air and television performances and much more.

‘Reload (Remastered)’ will be released in standard 180g 2LP, Wal-Mart exclusive colour 140g 2LP, CD, 3CD Expanded Edition, cassette and digital.

Meanwhile, the ‘Reload Remastered Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set’ is a one-time numbered pressing which contains 15 CDs full of unheard extra riffs, B-Sides, rarities and live materials. It will also contain four DVDs with live footage, television footage, behind the scenes shots of the band travelling to Seoul and more.

The Box Set also contains a plethora of memorabilia, including a pack of 13 Rorschach Test cards, an 11×17 Gimme Fuel poster, a sticker, a Pushead print, a 10-pack of guitar/bass picks, lyric sheets, three laminated tour passes and a deluxe 128-page book with never-before-seen photos and stories from whose who were there.

Metallica recently announced their giant Las Vegas Sphere residency last February, initially confirming a run of eight dates between October 1 and October 31.

After adding six more shows due to phenomenal demand, the band extended their dates into March 2027.

Speaking about the residency, Metallica co-founder and drummer Lars Ulrich said: “About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’

“This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way fuckin’ psyched to go next-level!”

Before heading to Las Vegas, Metallica will also embark on a UK and European tour later this year. This includes two nights at the London Stadium in July, following dates in Dublin, Glasgow and Cardiff. Find any remaining tickets here (UK and Ireland).

Metallica will also be headed to Conneticut for a special two-night stint at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, to mark the venue’s 25th anniversary. Taking place in November this year, Suicidal Tendencies will open for the band on the first night and Spiritbox supporting on the second.

The two dates will form one of the band’s ‘No Repeat Weekends’, in which no songs are played at both dates.

Elsewhere, Kirk Hammett has revealed he had 767 new riffs for Metallica’s “next album”. Their 11th and latest full-length effort, ’72 Seasons’, arrived in 2023.
