Nia Archives fires back at ex on fizzing single ‘Boys In Blue’ and announces new album ‘Emotional Junglist’

Nia Archives has announced her new album ‘Emotional Junglist’ and shared the fizzing single ‘Boys In Blue’.

The Leeds jungle artist will release the follow-up to her 2024 debut ‘Silence Is Loud’ on July 24 via Island Records, and it has been made alongside producers James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Blur), Ethan P. Flynn (FKA Twigs, David Byrne) and Julia Michaels (Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter). Jorja Smith and Sampha are set to feature on the record, and you can pre-order/pre-save your copy here.

She first teased the new record with her raw and vulnerable recent single ‘Danger’, and now she has followed that up with ‘Boys In Blue’, a pulsing, poppy track that takes aim at a partner that she has recently separated from.

Framing her ex as a police officer, she sings: “So go ahead and call the feds / You’ve lost it now, you’re out your head / To think that we once shared a bed / Now you’re tryna get me nicked instead”.

Nia Archives – ‘Emotional Junglist’ tracklist:

  1. ‘Feelingz Go Numb’
  2. ‘Around Tha Bend’
  3.  ‘Danger’
  4. ‘Vertical’
  5. ‘This Could Be’
  6. ‘Dance With Me 2nite’
  7. ‘Get Me Down’ (ft. Jorja Smith)
  8. ‘Train Of Thought’
  9. ‘Superlust’
  10. ‘There Goes Ma Head’
  11. ‘Almost Always’
  12. ‘Tender’ (ft. Sampha)
  13. ‘The Darkest Hour’
  14. ‘Lovers Grief’
  15. ‘Boys In Blue’

She has also already sold-out a three-day run of dates, which kicked off on Friday (May 1) in Leeds, and will see her play in London’s Hackney Church on May 8 and in New York’s Bowery Ballroom on May 21.

She has also been announced for Jorja Smith and Tems’ curated day at All Points East 2026 in London, and she will also be perfoming at Sziget in Budapest in August.

Nia Archives’ Mercury Prize-nominated debut LP was given a glowing four-star review by NME. “She exudes confidence and no longer hides her voice behind her wicked production skills,” it read.

“With each project, Nia waters the seeds of ideas and concepts she has planted throughout her discography. And, on her debut album, they all blossomed into a rich, self-reflective record that shows the artist beyond the beats.”

Last year, she also spoke to NME about the resurgence of jungle in recent years, and also opened up about the creation of ‘Emotional Junglist’.

“I just want to make a new album. I want to enjoy my life, go on a couple of holidays, play a few festivals and live the dream,” she said at the time. “I’ve already made a few songs, so I’m just excited to create a better album than I did last time. I’m a bit happier than I was [with ‘Silence Is Loud’], so hopefully it’s a happier album than before.”
