The Rolling Stones announce new album ‘Foreign Tongues’, with contributions from Paul McCartney, Robert Smith and more

The Rolling Stones have announced their new album ‘Foreign Tongues’ and confirmed that it will feature guest appearances from Paul McCartney, Robert Smith and more.

The rock veterans seemingly confirmed the new record last month when a series of billboards popped up around the world, featuring their logo and reading ‘Foreign Tongues’ in various languages.

Mick Jagger and co. later shared the post on their official Instagram page, leading to some fans suspecting that it could be the title of their new album.

Before then, they dropped a teaser of new material under the alias ‘The Cockroaches’, releasing the energetic and charismatic single ‘Rough and Twisted’.

Now, the band have officially confirmed the new album and revealed that it will be released on July 10 via Polydor/Universal Music. Visit here to pre-order.

The record will be formed of 14 songs and introduced by the infectious lead single ‘In The Stars’, which is released digitally today (Tuesday May 5) and will get a physical release on May 15.

It’ll also drop alongside the digital release of ‘Rough And Twisted’, and both tracks capture the raw and exploratory energy that the band lean into throughout the record.

Alongside Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, ‘Foreign Tongues’ also has one of the final recordings from late drummer Charlie Watts before his passing in 2021, as well as guest appearances from Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, The Cure’s Robert Smith and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The whole record was brought to life in less than one month at Metropolis Studios in West London, with production from Andrew Watt – who also worked with them on 2024’s ‘Hackney Diamonds’.

“I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis,” said Jagger. “It was a very intense few weeks recording ‘Foreign Tongues’. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”

Richards added that the record has a sense of “continuity from ‘Hackney Diamonds’” and captures “that London vibe” that the last record had, while Wood added that the “the atmosphere in the room was so creative, and the whole band was on top form throughout the whole process”.

“Very often we nailed it on the first take. I hope everyone loves it,” he added.

The three members are set to attend a media launch for ‘Foreign Tongues’ later today in Brooklyn, New York.

The Rolling Stones are unlikely to announce a full tour anytime soon. In late 2025, they confirmed that they scrapped plans for a UK and European stadium tour in 2026 because Keith Richards was unable to “commit” to it.

The group embarked on their North American ‘Hackney Diamonds’ tour in 2024, with the trek landing at Number Six on the list of the highest-grossing music world tours of that year. They last played the UK in 2022, when two huge London BST Hyde Park gigs followed a stadium concert in Liverpool.
