Liam Gallagher speaks out after he and John Squire were both spotted leaving Abbey Road Studios

Liam Gallagher has responded to reports that he and The Stone Roses’ John Squire have been spotted leaving Abbey Road Studios.

The two Manchester music legends released their first album together, titled simply ‘Liam Gallagher John Squire’, in March 2024, the first new record from the Stone Roses guitarist in 20 years.

Gallagher was spotted walking out of the iconic recording studio in North London earlier this week (May 6), while earlier in the day, he had posted on X: “IM A SINGER I SING SONGS THATS WHAT I DO”.

Some had speculated that it could point to a new Oasis album, but later in the same day, Squire was also seen outside the same studio, igniting talk that the sessions are in fact part of a follow-up to their 2024 collaboration.

When pressed on why he was at Abbey Road by a fan on X, Gallagher replied: “I can’t tell you what I’m doing for security reasons and the national health service what I can tell you is it’s fucking BIBLICAL”.

Gallagher spoke to NME in 2024 about the album with Squire. “People have got high expectations and I’m the same,” he said, “but after all the dust settles… it’s fucking 10 great songs with some great fucking musicians playing it and I’m singing decent.”

Shortly after its release, Liam signalled that he wanted to make a second record, saying it would be “rude not to”, and he also said at the time that the first album was “just the starter”, and “if John comes up with another load of songs that are banging, they’ll get it as well”.

NME awarded ‘Liam Gallagher John Squire’ four stars on its release in 2024, noting: “If fans were vaguely alarmed by lead single ‘Just Another Rainbow’, which pulses with a reassuringly Roses-style riff but also sees Liam recite the colours of the rainbow and ponder, “am I your windmill?”, it’s ha d to imagine anyone feeling short-changed by the album itself. Obviously this isn’t a ‘Definitely Maybe’ or ‘The Stone Roses’ – no-one could touch those hook-laden masterpieces. As a triumph of style and mood, though, ‘Liam Gallagher John Squire’ is well worthy of their enduring legacies.”

They went on to tour the record around the UK and Ireland, and NME rated their Glasgow show as four stars, writing: The intimate nature of the night may have been enough for some fans; what we received was masterful and refreshing. But if this is a partnershop to be continued, they best get started on album two.”
