Moby Praises Billie Eilish For Talking About Social Issues: ‘If I Had Children, I’d Say Be More Like Billie’

Moby has come out in support of Billie Eilish following the pop superstar’s recent comments about how eating meat is “inherently wrong.”

In a recent interview with Elle, Eilish responded to the question “what’s one hill you’d die on?” by saying “Y’all not gonna like me for this one. Eating meat is inherently wrong. Two things cannot coincide: ‘I love animals … and I eat meat.’ You can’t do both. You can eat meat, go for it. You can love animals. But you can’t do both.” Amid backlash to that comment, she followed up by saying “stay f–king mad at ME … i really don’t give a goddamn f–k” while sharing clips of animals suffering in overcrowded enclosures and experiencing violence by their handlers.

Now, longtime animal rights activist Moby is praising Eilish and her brother FINNEAS for consistently using their platforms to speak out on social issues.

In a video posted to Instagram on Monday (May 11), the legendary producer said, “So last week Billie Eilish found herself in the middle of a media storm, and Billie Eilish and Finneas their mom Maggie used to be regulars at my restaurant Little Pine here in Los Angeles… And honestly I think they’re amazing. They’re smart and funny and creative.

“And what’s so impressive in watching Billie handle herself as this huge public figure is that she uses her platform not just for self promotion but to address important issues, even if it runs the risk of alienating her fans,” Moby continued. “It’s so impressive watching someone use social media and use media to draw attention to incredibly important issues and to really challenge people. So if I had children, I’d say be more like Billie.”

In the comments section, Eilish and FINNEAS’ mom Maggie Baird, who is herself a well-established social activist focused heavily on food, wrote, “Thank you for all you do. And still miss Little Pine.” This latter comment refers to the entirely plant-based restaurant Moby opened in Los Angeles’ Silver Lake neighborhood that opened in 2015 and closed in late 2022.

Moby recently donated all of the money he made playing Coachella 2026 to a trio of animal rights organizations.
