Beastie Boys’ Mike D announces first ever UK and European solo shows

Beastie Boys‘ Mike D has announced his first ever UK and European solo shows, set to kick off later this summer.

The new announcement comes following the hip-hop icon making a surprise appearance on stage with his sons Davis and Skyler –  who form the indie-dance band Very Nice Person – last month and breaking out a couple of Beastie Boys classic tracks.

Shortly afterwards, he announced a couple of live solo shows in the US which included a gig at the Plaza Nightclub & Dance Hall in Los Angeles where he debuted new solo material, and last week, he surprised fans with a debut solo single called ‘Switch Up’.

Now, Mike D has announced his first ever European headline shows as a solo artist, which will see him play at intimate, unconventional venues across the continent.

Dates commence this summer with two shows at 26 Leake Street in London on June 5 and 6. From there he will head over to Berlin for a show at Saalchen, and follow this up with headline shows in Barcelona, Kortrijk and Sint-Niklaas.

He will also be playing at a number of festivals in June too, including Primavera Sound in Porto, Beyond The Pale in Wicklow, and Beyond The Streets in Paris. Tickets for headline shows go on sale this Friday (May 15) at 10am local time. Visit here for tickets and more information.

Mike D’s European live dates are:

JUNE
5 – 26 Leake St, London, UK
6 – 26 Leake St, London, UK
10 – Saalchen, Berlin, Germany
13 – Primavera Sound Festival, Porto, Portugal
14 – Beyond The Pale Festival, Wicklow, Ireland
16 – La 2 de Apolo Nitsa, Barcelona, Spain
18 – Blender at Bolwerk, Kortrijk, Belgium
19 – De Casino, Sint-Niklaas, Belgium
20 – Beyond The Streets, Paris, France

The new music from Mike D marks the first new music from any Beastie Boys member since their 2011 album ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part Two’.

Up until now, Mike D hasn’t hit the road as a Beastie Boy since his bandmate Adam “MCA” Yauch passed away in 2012, and the last release from the hip-hop pioneers came when they dropped a deluxe reissue of their 2004 album, ‘To The Five Boroughs’, earlier this year.
