BTS transforms Mexico City into global festival with sold-out Arirang Tour

Pop royalty BTS has once again demonstrated their peerless global influence, successfully concluding the Mexico City leg of their “BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’” to an overwhelming reception. The three-night residency, held on May 7 and May 9–10, 2026, saw approximately 150,000 attendees flood the venue, while local authorities estimated that tens of thousands more gathered in the surrounding streets, leading to temporary road closures and a city-wide festival atmosphere.

The high-energy setlist featured a seamless blend of the group’s musical evolution, highlighting tracks from their fifth studio album, ARIRANG. Global hits like “SWIM,” “2.0,” and “Hooligan” were met with thunderous applause, alongside established worldwide favorites such as “Dynamite,” “Butter,” and “IDOL.” The performances were characterized by the immersive production and precision choreography that have become the group’s signature.

A defining element of the visit was BTS’s deep engagement with Mexican culture, which sparked massive viral attention across social media. The members frequently interacted with the crowd in Spanish, but the cultural fusion went much further. During a performance of “Aliens,” the group was joined by dancers wearing traditional lucha libre masks. V also delighted local fans by enjoying a traditional banderilla during the performance of “IDOL,” a moment that quickly became a trending topic worldwide.

The cultural exchange extended beyond the concert walls. On May 9, Jin, SUGA, Jimin, and Jung Kook were spotted in the front row of the legendary Arena México for a professional lucha libre match. The appearance made headlines when iconic wrestler Místico entered the ring wearing a custom white jacket featuring the BTS logo.

The significance of the visit was further cemented on May 7, when the group accepted an official invitation from the Mexican presidential office. BTS met with President Claudia Sheinbaum at the Presidential Palace before greeting an estimated crowd of 50,000 people from the palace balcony. By bridging the gap between music, traditional culture, and international diplomacy, BTS’s time in Mexico City proved that their ability to connect with audiences transcends all borders.
