The South London singer, who previously made a cameo as herself in the Netflix drama Black Rabbit starring Jason Bateman and Jude Law, has been cast in forthcoming crime movie Lineage.
Written by Enda Walsh, whose credits include Steve McQueen movie Hunger, and based on a story by Demange, the film was developed by the pair over the past two years.
Set in modern-day London, the film follows Tariq, a father who is trying to rebuild his life after being imprisoned before his brother draws him back to the criminal underworld.

RAYE joins fellow cast members Isabelle Huppert, Dali Benssalah, and Adam Bessa with production on the film set to begin in early August in London.
It’s unclear what her role will be but Demange said of the forthcoming movie via Variety: “Lineage is a homecoming for me in many ways,” adding the film will feature “characters I know very well… including a crime boss matriarch.”
He went on: “It’s also my love letter to the London I grew up in and love. It’s important to me that the film both honors and delivers on the crime genre in an exciting and fresh way, whilst simultaneously exploring the complications of family and the possibility of transcending one’s beginnings.”
RAYE recently released her second album ‘This Music May Contain Hope’ – the follow up to her 2023 debut ‘My 21st Century Blues’.
In a five-star review of the album, NME wrote: “‘This Music May Contain Hope’ is RAYE firing on all cylinders – and then some. It’s showstopping musical maximalism at its grandest, while still being grounded in relatable experiences and unbridled emotions. Again, it’s admittedly a lot to take in – but that’s also why it’s so glorious, every theatrical flourish and stylistic detour a declaration from RAYE that she is finally making music for herself.”
She is currently touring the US tour and will play a handful of gigs in the UK later this year. The latter includes two stops at The O2 in London, and headline slots at Reading & Leeds. Find her tour dates here and any remaining tickets to all of her shows here.
