Kelela will take her next album, New Avatar, on the road this fall. Over the weekend she also shared “Point Blank,” the latest single from the LP. Check that out below, along with a full rundown of tour dates.
In “Point Blank,” Kelela sings about the misogynoir she’s experienced in relationships with men. “I first outline the baseline dynamic, which is that we’re expected to endure men’s inability to self-regulate,” she says in a statement. “The fantasy many of us are invested in is one where we do such a good job of holding space that it starts to rub off on our partner over time, eventually inducing some sort of revelation and building their emotional maturity. Yet the more we pour into men, the more entitled they become.”
New Avatar will feature collaborations with PinkPantheress, A. K. Paul, and Fousheé, Last year, Kelela released the live album In the Blue Light.
