Knocked Loose to carry on with Metallica tour after guitarist hit by car and singer suffers Bell’s Palsy

Knocked Loose will carry on with their Metallica tour, despite their guitarist being hit by a car and their singer suffering from Bell’s Palsy.

The Kentucky hardcore band are currently serving as one of the support acts for the UK and European leg of Metallica’s ‘M72’ tour, with big shows set to come at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and the London Stadium in the coming weeks – see all dates and ticket info here.

The band, who also have dates opening for Bring Me The Horizon in Poland coming up, have confirmed that they will continue with all of their dates, despite suffering multiple recent setbacks.

Frontman Bryan Garris was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy during the tour, which he documented in a video diary. The condition causes temporary facial paralysis, and Garris went to a doctor after noticing he was “losing control” of the left side of his face. Rather than taking time off from the tour, he chose to take steroids and acupuncture treatment, which allowed him to continue performing.

On Friday (May 29), guitarist Isaac Hale revealed that he had been “hit by a car”, posting an image of himself on Instagram with his hand and wrist heavily bandaged. He gave a thumbs up in the photo, however, and praised the boba tea that he got after his hospital trip, indicating that he too will not be taking any time off.

Knocked Loose also have a North American tour coming later this year alongside co-headliner Denzel Curry, with whom they recently released the exhilarating single ‘Hive Mind’.

It marked the band’s first new music since 2024, when they released the album ‘You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To’, which featured the Grammy-nominated Poppy collaboration ‘Suffocate’.

Garris spoke to NME last year about their possible future direction: “There’s been a lot of processing of how amazing some of these moments have been. But there’s never been any conversation about lightening up. We’re a heavy band and we’re always going to be a heavy band.”

“If anything, that attention makes us want to double down. We see people reacting positively to all of this chaos that we’re introducing to our sound and we get inspired by that feedback, inspired by past extremes working. That’s how it will stay.”

Knocked Loose are also playing at Primavera Sound in Barcelona this week, and their set is one of those that will be streaming live on Amazon Music.
