Ty Segall is back to his old tricks: The garage-rock maestro will drop an album and EP on August 28 via Drag City. Chrome, the album, is billed as his most maximalist in years, after a string of left turns and last year’s back-to-basics Possession. Love Fuzzz, the EP, comprises outliers from the Chrome sessions including “Love Fuzzz” itself, a remake of a Twins track, newly appended with an extra “z.” “Black Paint” leads the dual releases. Check it out below.
The “Black Paint” video was filmed by Alex Bulli at various Segall shows, with his band of Ben Boye, Evan Burrows, Mikal Cronin, and Emmett Kelly. They recorded the LP at Sonic Ranch with Cooper Crain. Though he managed a full year without putting out an album, the industrious Segall did release the “Live” “At” “The” “BBC” EP with his sometime band the Muggers this past January.
