Footage has been shared of the England team looking out in awe as the crowd sing along to Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ after their victory against Croatia at the World Cup.
Harry Kane and co. secured a 4-2 victory over the Croatian team as they went head to head in Dallas, Texas last night (Wednesday June 17).
The England captain put his team ahead just 12 minutes into the game with a twice-taken penalty – following a foul from the Croatian team.
Croatia then levelled things out with a goal on the 36 minute mark, before Kane restored England’s lead with a header. The match was tied again when Petar Musa knocked the ball past Jordan Pickford just seconds before half-time.
In the second half of the match, England went back into the lead thanks to Jude Bellingham in the 47th minute, and the victory was secured as Marcus Rashford – on as a substitute – got the final goal of the game on the 85-minute mark.
With the two goals from Kane, the England captain is now level with Gary Lineker on 10 World Cup goals. He has also joined Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland in making an early pitch for the Golden Boot award.

During the match at the Dallas Stadium, fans could be heard singing along to various tracks including The Killers’ ‘Mr Brightside’ at various points, but one of the most powerful moments from the audience came just after the victory, when they sang along to Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’.
In footage from the match, the team are seen looking out with a sense of awe, as thousands of fans sang to the classic Britpop track as they wrapped things up. Players like Kane looked out with gratitude, while others like Jude Bellingham and Anthony Gordon mouthed along to the lyrics.
Following the 4-2 victory, England now go on to face Ghana in Boston on Tuesday June 23. Live coverage will begin from 8pm UK time, and the match will kick off from 9pm.

As for Oasis, Noel Gallagher recently shared that he won’t be watching the Chris Martin-curated World Cup halftime show, saying that he doesn’t “like the razzmatazz of football” and thinks the sport has “been functioning perfectly for hundreds of years” without it.
The band have a new documentary coming out soon too, made by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and on the way to Disney+.
The film will document the Britpop giants’ return as they embarked on their huge Live ‘25 reunion tour, and is directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelance – known for the LCD Soundsystem doc Shut Up And Play The Hits. According to reports, the project will also contain some “phenomenal” footage of Liam and Noel Gallagher’s first meeting ahead of their comeback shows.
Elsewhere, Liam Gallagher was spotted leaving Abbey Road Studios with The Stone Roses’ John Squire last month – presumably working on the follow-up to their joint 2024 album ‘Liam Gallagher John Squire’ – and the frontman also fuelled rumours about another Oasis tour in 2027, telling Italian fans they will “without a doubt, 100 per cent” play in Rome next year.
The Britpop giants are set to enter the Rock n’ Roll Hall Of Fame later this year, having already been nominated in 2024 and 2025.
