Britney Spears has reflected on how having her clothing and jewellery stolen three years ago led to her “rebelling” on social media.
Returning to Instagram on Sunday, the Princess of Pop posted a slideshow of photos showing her posing and dancing in revealing outfits.
In the accompanying caption, Britney insisted that she wasn’t a “victim” but admitted that she is still upset over how some of her coats, jewellery, and “half” of her wardrobe went missing “three years ago”.
“Not a victim, I’m just curious as to how people were able to make me feel so cheap and crazy when my coats, jewelry and half my wardrobe went missing 3 years ago,” she wrote. “I’m going back to that week because it actually did something to me physiologically when the response was nothing we can do about it… it 100 percent hurt me emotionally and felt completely helpless…”
Britney went on to note that it’s still a mystery as to how her personal items went missing.
“Not showing the coats or jewelry, here are the dresses… it’s honestly strange, I don’t perhaps miss the clothes,” the 44-year-old continued. “I will say ever since that happened I 100 percent rebelled on Instagram and showed myself as cheap and probably secretly angry… question is if this is crazy talk or did whomever came into my home and stole that much money know exactly what they were doing !!!”
A spokesperson for Britney has not yet commented on her claims.
The Toxic hitmaker’s latest posts come around six weeks after she checked out of rehab.
In April, the pop icon’s representative confirmed she had gone to a facility after she was arrested in Ventura County, California on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) the previous month.
At a later court hearing, Britney’s lawyer pleaded guilty to one count of reckless driving on her behalf. She was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to complete a three-month DUI programme.
