Joy Division have announced a massive new collection of live concert recordings, ‘Eternal (Live)’. Find all the details below.

The huge compilation will include audio from 16 live performances, sourced from fan-recorded casettes, soundboard tapes and broadcast recordings. All 14CDs were mastered at London’s legendary Abbey Road Studios, and will contain some of Joy Division’s most seminal performances, including their final live show at High Hall in Birmingham in 1980.

The collection will also contain two previously unreleased gigs: Hope & Anchor, and Acklam Hall. Three previously unheard recordings will also be on the box set from The Factory, Lyceum, and Moonlight Club (2 April).

Additionally, there are two DVDs with over 2hrs 30mins of performance footage from the iconic Mancunians, as well as a fresh edit of Joy Division – A Malcolm Whitehead Film.

The collection will be housed in a 12″ x 12″ lift-off lid box, featuring artwork by Warren Jackson, Peter Saville, Howard Wakefield and Brett Wickens. The cover photo is taken from a Wolfgang Tillmans photograph. The box set comes complete with liner notes from Simon Armitage and photography by Anton Corbijn, Kevin Cummins and more.

You can listen to the first taste of the box set, ‘Transmission (Les Bains Douches, Paris)’ now – see the full tracklist for the collection below and pre-order it here.

Elsewhere, Peter Hook has dedicated Joy Division’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction to Ian Curtis.

After three previous nominations, Joy Division and New Order will enter the Rock Hall as a single act during a ceremony in Los Angeles in November this year.

Hook – who played bass with Joy Division until they became New Order when Ian Curtis took his own life in 1980, before parting ways with the band in 2007 – said he was “wonderfully pleased” to be inducted on social media, adding: “I’ve been looking forward to it for years, so I definitely am gonna make the most of it. I’d like to say that this is for Ian Curtis, and for all our fans of both bands. Without you, we would be nothing. So thank you so much.”

Hook confirmed he would attend the ceremony, adding: “I will see you on the night.” It is not yet known whether the current members of New Order will be in attendance, too.

However, Hook is reportedly “in talks” for a performance at the ceremony, with fellow inductees Oasis reported to potentially “be the intermediaries” for a New Order reunion.
