Here’s what Muse played as they debuted ‘The Wow! Signal’ songs and kicked off 2026 North American tour

Muse debuted songs from ‘The Wow! Signal’ on the opening night of their North American tour – see footage and the full setlist below.

The band launched their run of dates across the Atlantic at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin last night (July 2), in support of their 10th studio album, which was released last week (June 26).

The opening night saw Muse give live debuts to ‘Hexagons’ and ‘Nightshift Superstar’, while also including ‘The Wow! Signal’ tracks ‘Cryogen’, ‘Be With You’ and ‘Unravelling’, the latter of which had to be stopped and restarted after the first verse due to a power outage.

The tour is set to continue across North America throughout July and August, with The Temper Trap supporting across the run and Bloc Party and Portugal. The Man joining on selected dates. The shows are set to wrap at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on August 31. Find any remaining tickets here.

Speaking to NME recently, Matt Bellamy explained that the North American dates would be slightly more restrained than the arena shows due to venue restrictions.

“It’ll be a similar production to what we used last summer, but with a few step-ups and a few customisations for this show,” he said.

However, he added that the UK and European arena shows would feature a more ambitious stage production.

“Erm, we’re trying to build a spaceship – as you do!” Bellamy said. “The quote came in and it’s more expensive than some of these London houses, and that’s saying something around here.

“We’re trying to work with that, build a spaceship, do some new stuff with lasers that’s never been done before, and yeah, it will be a classic. It’s going to be more in the space, sci-fi realm, which I think is cool for us.

“We’re trying to make it fly. I don’t think it will. That’s the thing that costs more than a house, but it will be something cool, I promise.”

The tour takes its name from Muse’s new album, which itself references the real-life Wow! signal, a mysterious 1977 radio burst that some have speculated could have come from beyond Earth.

Bellamy previously told NME that the album found him leaning into “the unknown” after a difficult personal period, saying: “I can’t live without music – that feeling came back to me on this album.”

NME gave the album four stars, noting: “In rekindling their own purpose, the Teignmouth trio have delivered undoubtedly their most consistent and satisfying album since ‘Black Holes & Revelations’ – doubling up as either a knowing gift to the fans or at least a response to any concerns that Muse had long disappeared too far up their own supermassive blackholes. Look up to the sky with a sigh of relief or a simple ‘wow’.”

Back in April, the band played an intimate show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, where they debuted ‘Cryogen’ and ‘Be With You’ live and mixed new material with fan favourites.
