Beyoncé marks Independence Day by gifting steamy new song ‘Morning Dew (Donk)’ to fans

Beyoncé has released a new song, ‘Morning Dew (Donk)’, as part of the upcoming 20th anniversary reissue of ‘B’Day’ – check it out below.

The track arrived in time for Independence Day today, marking her first new song in two years and beginning a 60-day countdown to her next birthday on September 4.

That date will also mark 20 years since the release of ‘B’Day’, Beyoncé’s second solo album, which originally came out worldwide on September 4, 2006.

‘Morning Dew (Donk)’ was written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon, and was produced by Beyoncé and Pharrell. It is set to appear on the forthcoming 20th anniversary edition of ‘B’Day’.

‘Morning Dew (Donk)’ is a throwback to the steamy R&B of Beyoncé’s sound from the era, built around a bouncy, flirty groove and showing off Bey’s sultry vocals. Watch the lyric video here:

‘B’Day’ became Beyoncé’s second Number One album in the US, and it included singles such as ‘Déjà Vu’, ‘Ring The Alarm’, ‘Irreplaceable’ and ‘Beautiful Liar’. It also went on to win Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 2007 Grammys.

The surprise release comes amid ongoing speculation about Beyoncé’s next full-length project, with fans continuing to look for clues about the long-awaited ‘Act III’. It is expected to complete the trilogy that began with 2022’s ‘Renaissance’ and continued with 2024’s ‘Cowboy Carter’, although no official details about the project have been confirmed.

Earlier this year, Paramore’s Hayley Williams responded to rumours that she could appear on the album amid speculation that Beyoncé may be heading into rock territory next. Asked about the rumours during a live show, Williams replied: “You might know before I do.”

Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ tour, meanwhile, was named the highest-grossing tour of 2025, bringing in $407million, despite Oasis selling more tickets on their reunion run.

Reports also emerged in December that Beyoncé had officially become a billionaire, with Forbes estimating that she brought in $148million before taxes in 2025, making her the third-highest paid musician in the world that year.

Elsewhere, Barbie Ferreira recently claimed that she had starred in a scrapped Beyoncé video for ‘Thique’, saying: “It’ll never come out. I finally have accepted it.”

Beyoncé was also added to the US Library Of Congress’ National Recording Registry in May, with ‘Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)’ being inducted alongside music by Taylor Swift, Weezer and the Doom soundtrack.
