Paris Paloma tells crowd, “If you want to support artists, don’t use AI” on stage at Bilbao BBK Live 2026

In partnership with Bilbao BBK Live 2026.

Paris Paloma used her stage at Bilbao BBK Live 2026 to urge the audience to stay away from AI and to support human artists.

Playing the San Miguel stage on the first day of the festival, the indie-folk singer-songwriter preceded recent single ‘Miyazaki’ with a heartfelt proclamation to her sizable crowd. “This next song I wrote about how much I value human artists and how much I hate AI art. If you value art and you want to support artists, don’t fucking use AI because it sucks,” she declared before performing the track, which is named after Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki.

Elsewhere during the early evening set, Paloma also called out “Elon Musk, Andrew Tate and all those other losers” ahead of performing last year’s single ‘Good Boy’. Tackling topical issues around the manosphere, the track begins with a quote from actor Emma Thompson, who declares: “I knew one day, I’d have to watch powerful men burn the world down / I just didn’t expect them to be such losers.”

Earlier this spring, the singer pledged to donate £1 from every ticket to her upcoming tour to the girls’ rights charity Plan International UK.

Heading out around the UK and Europe in November and December in support of forthcoming second album ‘The Fatal Flaw’, set for release September 4, she hailed the important work of the charity. “[They’re] doing immensely important work for girls worldwide, including working to end period poverty, child marriage, and working to keep girls in education. Their objective to work to keep girls everywhere safe and in education is a cause so important to me,” she wrote.

‘The Fatal Flaw’ follows the singer’s 2024 debut album ‘Cacophony’, which featured the viral breakout hit ‘Labour’.

Speaking to NME, she described her desire for her music to act as “a protective sphere in which to feel any emotions that need to be felt”. She continues: “Whether they’re listening to something like ‘Labour’ and it’s something so angry, I want them to feel like their anger is valid. If it’s something else, I want them to feel comforted, if it makes them cry I want them to feel held while they do that.”

Bilbao BBK Live 2026 kicked off yesterday (July 9) with powerful performances from the likes of FKA Twigs and David Byrne – read NME’s round-up of day one here.

The festival will continue through until Saturday night (July 11) with massive sets from Robbie Williams, CMAT, Lily Allen, IDLES and many more.
