Shania Twain teams up with Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme on rebellious new single ‘Faded Blue Jeans’

Shania Twain has teamed up with Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme on her new single ‘Faded Blue Jeans’ – listen below.

The track is the final preview of Twain’s upcoming album ‘Little Miss Twain’, which is set to be released on July 24 via Republic Nashville, and follows on from her 2023 record ‘Queen Of Me’.

Written solely by Twain, ‘Faded Blue Jeans’ is a nostalgic, guitar-driven song inspired by one of the singer’s teenage relationships, reflecting on the feeling that young love could last forever.

The track also channels the rock, blues and rebellious spirit that shaped Twain’s youth, with Homme adding vocals to bring a rawer edge to the song.

‘Little Miss Twain’ has already been previewed with previous singles ‘Dirty Rosie’ and the title track, and fans can pre-order a limited-edition ‘Faded Blue Jeans’ picture disc from Twain’s official store here.

The collaboration arrives during a busy week for Homme. Mastodon recently shared their new single ‘Snakes For Dinner’, which features the Queens Of The Stone Age frontman on guest vocals.

The track is taken from Mastodon’s upcoming album ‘Marrow Deep’, which is set to arrive on August 28. It marks Homme’s second collaboration with the band, following his appearance on ‘Colony Of Birchmen’ from their 2006 album ‘Blood Mountain’.

Queens Of The Stone Age have also just shared their own first new single in three years, the psychedelic ‘Easy Street’, featuring country-rock artist Nikki Lane.

“We made it the way you’d make a demo,” Homme said of the song. “No click track, mistakes left in, weird claps that aren’t in time, fluctuating tempo. The song, like your life, is in the mistakes. Its imperfections are unbeatable.”

Queens Of The Stone Age also recently joined System Of A Down and Acid Bath at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the trio playing the huge show as part of System Of A Down’s rare European stadium run.

Twain has been in the UK recently too. Last month, she played an intimate 200-capacity show at London’s Shacklewell Arms, performing new material from ‘Little Miss Twain’ alongside classics including ‘No One Needs To Know’ and ‘Don’t Be Stupid’.

She also made a surprise appearance during Mumford & Sons’ headline show at BST Hyde Park, joining the band for a rendition of ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman!’.

Speaking to NME in 2023, Twain reflected on how she has always blurred genre lines throughout her career, having faced criticism from country purists when she first arrived in Nashville in the early ’90s.

“Those that thought I was going to ruin the genre probably still think I ruined the genre,” she said with a laugh. “I’m not sure I changed any minds. I was just always in my own lane.”

Twain added that she had looked up to boundary-pushing country icons including Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, saying: “Maybe I did ruin something for some people; but I’m unapologetic about it.”
